SHELLYWOOD – Where dreams come true

SHELLYWOOD is a timeless story of two young star-crossed lovers whose dreams and passions consume their will to the brink of self-destruction. In this eternal tale of hope and romance, stand two tender souls whose childlike innocence and candour only obscures their inner turmoil, anger, anxiety and desperate wait for love.

Shelli is the daughter of a violent lotus farmer, who, despite all odds, relentlessly follows her dreams. When she discovers her father has pre-arranged her marriage to Sanjeev, an I.T. student in Bangalore, she flees to Australia, stowed away in a shipping crate.

A chance encounter onboard ship introduces Shelli to Raj, a shy spice wholesaler who continues to intrigue her. A friendship begins, where Raj with his enchanting ways and an undying spirit tries to win Shelli's heart. Shelli is unable to break free from her haunting past and their friendship pulls her into a whirlwind of desire, madness, romance and confusion.

Shelli abandons Raj, jumps ship, and agrees to marry Sanjeev in Bangalore. Her career as a virtual supermodel flourishes but she soon realises she cannot surrender her love for Raj. Shelli returns to the ship only to find that he has married Sangita, her younger sister.

Disheartened, Shelli moves to Kolkata, but descends into bad company and an alcohol problem...until a mysterious chai-walla whispers magic words of hope into Shelli's heart.

Through Shelli and Raj’s journey together, we are reminded that admist the tides of tradition, duty and destiny, our dreams are our guiding stars.
